As a former student and educator in Forsyth County, I know how to achieve excellence for everyone. Here are my priorities if I am elected to the Board of Education.
1
The needs of ALL students should be at the heart of every decision made by the board.

Balancing student work with emotional intelligence activities must be a priority. Children are not robots. Morning Meetings help children to get to know all their classmates and not feel left out. They also help students regulate their emotions.

The safety of all students should be a priority as well.
2
Keeping our amazing educators in the classroom and feeling respected.

Our educators are highly trained. Most go on to achieve a Master's. Specialist’s and even Doctor degrees to help them effectively educate students. They seek endorsements to further their education. They teach state standards, and we should trust them to have all students’ best interests when teaching.
I would work to ensure their opinions are respected and to ensure all stakeholders know the pride they take in their work.
The proposed employee pay raises and reduction of stagnant steps is a great way to help us retain teachers and keep us competitive with surrounding counties.
3
Financial responsibility without sacrificing the quality of our stellar educational system.
Public funds should stay in public education. If state funding is used for private education, all counties would have their state funding reduced. Our local funds would have to make up the funding gap. This would either raise property taxes or reduce funds needed by the school system.
