Career Teacher and Forsyth County Long-Term Resident Running to Ensure Excellent Education for All Students
Why I’m Running
As a life-long educator who has grown up in the county and taught in Forsyth schools for most of my career, I am proud to be one of many who helped create the vibrant, diverse and sought-after schools Forsyth County has today. We worked hard to embrace students of all all-backgrounds into our schools, teaching with care to include everyone, and producing some of the best academic results in the state of Georgia.

I am running to keep our schools caring. To keep them successful. And to ensure our schools serve ALL students.
I have lived in Forsyth County most of my life and attended Midway Elementary and Otwell Middle School. My teachers inspired me to love learning and to become a teacher. After completing my bachelor’s degree (B.S. in Elementary Education) and master’s degree (M.S., Early Childhood Education with a Reading Endorsement), I taught in Big Creek Elementary School for 27 years (I also taught for 3 years in Glascock County, at the start of my career). I retired in 2022.
As a result, I know what teachers and students are concerned about. I continue to listen to what teachers and students are saying while I am out in the community, through my volunteer and alumni networks.
To stay on top of what is happening, I also regularly attend our Board of Education's monthly meetings. I follow closely what our elected state Assembly members are proposing with respect to public school education.
What I see are attempts to push our school system away from serving ALL students. This is happening after decades of working to serve ALL students better, an effort that has produced some of the most caring environments and the most successful outcomes in our state.
My goal is to help our schools achieve excellence for everyone.
